Variegated fritillary (I think)



Hmm, trying to figure out the species. I'm going with variegated fritillary (Euptoieta claudia). Someone prove me wrong. Please! I want to KNOW the correct name.

Lorilee, that's blue mistflowers.

I agree, it looks exactly like the Variegated Fritillary in my favorite book for identifying butterflies, "Butterflies of the Lower Rio Grande Valley by Roland H. Wauer.
What is the name of the plant that the butterfly is sitting on?
