August 2014 in our Wildscape

Welcome to our Wildscape in August, the worst summer month in terms of raging heat and no rain. I tend to get a bit depressed this time of the year. It's tough to go outside and see everything suffering from lack of the nourishing kind of moisture that nature brings with rain. We've started watering early in the morning about every other day, just to keep plants alive. Compared to past Augusts, actually this month has been easier. The high temps were a little later in coming, thank the Lord. Here we go...

Our front yard....

The Meadow's dry dry dry...

Side of front yard...

And now to the back yard...

Grand finale: Texas hibiscus

I absolutely love all your huge oaks, and your wildscaping looks so impressive! Appears to be in good shape for this time of year. Birds are spoiled at your place with all those birdbaths! This is my least favorite time of year also - can hardly wait for fall temps to arrive.

I love a good texas landscape, it looks great, even in this heat. I absolutely adore Texas Hibiscus but have feared putting him in the ground. How long has yours been in the ground?

August is tough, but it looks like you're well-planned for it. Beautiful lay-out--I'm envious of your space!

Thanks, y'all! We planted the hibiscus last April. So we shall see!
