Meadow mowed

Yep, James mowed the Meadow yesterday. I'm going to throw out antelope horn seeds soon.
UPDATE JULY 16, 2020 I threw out some seeds this morning.

I'm trying to get a wildflower meadow started here in New Braunfels, Sheryl. I'm afraid of mowing at the "wrong times." Heretofore, I've been mowing only once - at the end of winter with the idea of leaving seeds for birds & field mice and then before the wildflowers get enough height so that the mower blades miss them. I think that's not enough mowing. What is your mowing schedule suggestion for starting a meadow with grasses and natives (without weeding the whole thing, which would be impossible for me.) Thanks so much.

Hi, Sandy! You know, if we didn't live right in a neighborhood, I'd probably lobby James to mow just once a year. But the grass DOES get very dry, and we don't want to worry our neighbors about possible grass fires. In my opinion, and that's all it is, with no educational basis at all, I think you're fine with your mow schedule. :-)
