This is great! I am fascinated by the myriad forms of seeds and seed pods. Mexican Buckeye pods are particularly attractive and the seed of yucca and rain lilies were so surprisingly sleek and black when I saw they for the first time.
I've tried standing cypress from seed several times with no luck. Knowing a field of it self sows makes me think I must not have the right conditions for it where I was trying for some. I suppose it is a good thing we can't all easily grow exactly the same plants - that could get monotonous!
Yes, seeds need exactly the right conditions to germinate, sprout and grow. I threw some standing cypress last year in our Meadow. The only one that germinated was in a crack between our house and back patio. Come to think of it, I should take a photo of it! :-)

Have you found that standing cypress self sows? I have t this year for the first time and wonder if I should collect and spread the seeds.
Pretty sure they self sow. There's a field of it west of town that comes up by itself every year. We don't have any. Yet.

This is fabulous! I LOVE your blog! I think it's on CTG's blogroll but I'll go check!
Thank you! I'm honored!
That doesn't look like Snapdragon Vine seeds...it appears to be penstemon seeds!
I agree, Linda. They sure didn't look like my snapdragon seeds.
