Tough greenthread

In April, an infestation of beetles (Phaedon desotonis) marched across the Meadow and wiped out our greenthread plants. Miraculously, they survived, regrew and have been blooming in profusion this past week or so. As I was shooting some blooms, I noticed how different each and every flower is. Take a look and see.....

I was really interested to see your posting on greenthread because this morning I photographed what I thought was greenthread. Now I see yours I am not so sure. Mine has a similar yellow flower although it is pure yellow and the center is yellow. It grows on a slender stalk 2' tall. A solitary flower. Do you have any idea what it might be. I can't id in my wildflower book.

I'm not sure. But I'm thinking you're seeing what I've been seeing in bloom too around this area. But maybe not. Have you posted a photo of your flower?

Sheryl-
I would never have known this-but these fantastic photos have been the BEST Teaching Tool possible.
Your photos spur my interest to get out and pay closer attention to our Native Spring FLowers.

Your photos are beautiful! Keep them coming when you find the perfect shot!
