My Texas spiny lizard friend was out this afternoon, and we had a brief visit. He's a grown a bit!

Honey bee on blue curl

Darn genistra broom moth caterpillars have returned this season to our blue wild indigo. Two years ago, I euthanized a bunch because they were decimating the plant COMPLETELY. If they don't get out of control, I may let these be. We'll see.

A volunteer Wright's skullcap by the gray golden aster

What kind of galls are these on the heath aster (Symphyotrichum ericoides)?

Funereal duskywing on zexmenia

One of my milkweeds planted April 2016 DID come back! I'm just not sure which species it is. Either showy or bract.

Grand finale!
