Any time's a good time to check out natives. This morning, I was waiting at Gem of the Hills Community Center for Ann and Marcy to pick me up. It was our Texas Master Naturalist chapter meeting day. Why sit in the car? So I got out and peered along the limestone slope by the parking area. What should I find but RATANY (Krameria lanceolata), also called trailing krameria. I looked back in this blog and saw that we did find it growing on our land northwest of Blanco and also in Gillespie County. I think it's the prettiest little plant. Don't tell anyone but I snagged a few seeds. Awhile ago, I tossed them on dry, bare areas in the Meadow. We'll see!

More plants to look for on my walks. That penstemon looks a lot like the one I found in a field recently.
