Look who James photographed! I'd been outside earlier to fill up a few bird baths. I heard a commotion and glanced up at the owl box. But the opening was empty. Oh, I thought, an owl must have been up there, roosting, and I scared it back down into the box. Sure enough, James later spotted an eastern screech owl in the box! He got a couple of photos. I love to see our Owl Shacks being used.

How wonderful. We have yet to have one nest in ours. I did hear the Great Horned owl the other night. A lovely sound. He must be back to nest in the trees somewhere.
I am now thinking about getting one of these (thanks to you!) Do you know if they can mount to a tree easily without harming the tree? Didn't see much info on the site regarding that...
Regina, I've been told that nails etc don't hurt trees. We've screwed in hooks for a swing and hammock in two live oaks. They're just fine. :-)
And Rock Rose, owls nested in one of our boxes the first year but none since, just "roost-ers".
