Fun lunch guests!

Thank you, thank you, Sally, for bringing the residents of Blanco's beautiful Henry House over to enjoy a pizza lunch in our Wildscape gardens. (I apologize for not getting everyone to look over and say "cheese" at the same time. I just snapped a couple of quick shots.) James missed the fun hour because he had to work. So I had Emerie, Jewell, Corrine, Ivon, and Mr. P.A. all to myself. Thanks for coming,  y'all! Come back soon soon soon!

Texas periodical cicadas

Entomologist Mike Quinn recently posted some interesting information on his website: "Notes on Texas Periodical Cicadas." Check it out! And you can report your own sightings here.

Mallows

Rock roses in the front yard.
"Hey, you need to take some photos of the rock rose blooming!" James suggested while on a break from mowing awhile ago. Okay! So off I went with my point-and-shoot. Then I decided I might as well take photos of all our pretty mallows...

Pearl milkweed

James took photos this evening for me. I'm too tired to do much of anything. He was also the one who spotted the seed pod on the pearl milkweed. Cool!

Taller than me!

My "baby," the Simpson's rosinweed that I planted from seed. It's taller than me!

The standing cypress that managed to grow in between the house and patio is also taller than me. It should bloom soon.

Post-flood recovery

I'd like to pass along information about upcoming workshops and advice on flood recovery for riparian habitats....
