Just can't resist...

Oh, my, James and I can be like two kids in a toy store when it comes to native plants! Maybe you can relate? He had Wednesday off so off we went to Fredericksburg, where we visited two local nurseries (Dodd's Family Nursery and Friendly Natives Nursery). Yes, we added to our Wildscape CONSIDERABLY. Many plants were on our "wish list," such as the Copper Canyon daisy and fall aster.

Needless to say, we spent all afternoon, planting our new additions. Take a look....

Sedum
(I have no clue about species or variety)

Blue princess verbena
(Verbena X hybrida 'Blue Princess')

Zexmenia
(Zexmenia hispida)
A gift from our neighbor, Jeri Bowles...

Henry Duelberg salvia
(Salvia farinacea 'Henry Duelberg')
This salvia was found in a Central Texas cemetery and
introduced to the Texas nursery trade
by Greg Grant.

Copper Canyon daisy
(Tagetes lemmonii)

'May Night' sage
(Salvia x sylvestris)

Fall aster
(Aster oblongifolius)

Coreopsis
(Coreopsis lanceolata)

Calylophus
(Calylophus berlandieri)

Blackfoot daisy
(Melampodium leucanthum) DIED
I bought a six-pack of little blackfoots and planted three near an "adult" blackfoot,
the other three in a rosebush bed in our front yard.

Hi Sheryl,
Did you go to Friendly Natives in Fredericksburg? My brother-in-law just opened it last fall. He loves Texas Native Plants. He still lives near Dallas and is not at the nursery all the time as he would like to be.
Blessings,
Lorilee

YES, we bought most of the plants from Dodd's on Main Street, then we found Friendly Natives. Cool about that connection!
