First chimney swift!!

Yes, I was outside awhile ago, gardening, when I heard a familiar twitter! I looked up and spotted our first chimney swift of the season! Naturally, I ran inside and sent an alert to Paul and Georgean Kyle with ChimneySwifts.org. They monitor spring sightings on their Website.

Welcome back, guys!

Hi, Sheryl. What part of Dallas do you live? I removed my chimney cap on Saturday (I live in Richardson) in anticipation of their arrival. They have been nesting in my chimney for the past 10 years and I am always so happy to have them return. At my house, they usually arrive April 4-6. So maybe tonight!!

Hi, Sara! We actually live in the Hill Country north of San Antonio! Let me know when yours come! Isn't it always exciting when everyone returns in the spring?

Yes! I love these little birds! Such a pleasant sound to hear them chattering in my chimney. And it is still, after all these years, so amazing to watch them go into my chimney at dusk. Once, my granddaughter and I stood in the back yard and counted over 150 of them! I'll be sure to alert the Kyle's when they arrive. Cheers!

That's awesome! We've thought about building a chimney swift tower, but it hasn't happened yet. Thanks for dropping by here!
