Antlion adult

Those cool little insects that build funnels in the dirt and wait for a delicious victim to topple in? This is what they grow up to be...an owlfly.

As usual I've learned some new information from you today Sheryl! I never knew that doodlebugs turned into anything. So glad that you have a good eye and a good camera to capture shots of insects that we can see better than in real life.
We have a garden spider at WFSC like yours that has been there for several weeks and whenever there's children nearby we try to educate them on how beneficial the spiders are to us. One mom pulled her son away and said "don't go near that!". Oh well, hopefully he learned that not all spiders are bad!
Thanks again for all that you do to bring knowledge of the natural world to your readers. God is such an incredible creator!

I love to learn, and I love to share what I learn! Now we need to Google and find out how an antlion larva morphs into an owlfly! Good for you on spreading the Good Word about spiders. Thank YOU!!!
