Look at our bordered patch caterpillars on the sawtooth sunflowers. They're turning more orange now....
And look what I found on some pink evening primrose (Oenothera speciosa) ... a white-lined sphinx! I didn't know they'd host on primrose, but according to this Native Plant Butterfly Garden list, they do. Cool!

We usually have white-lined sphinx in the garden but this year we too noticed for the first time they've been preferentially eating pink evening primrose. Apparently everybody got the memo! I did see one devouring some spotted spurge...gotta be one rebel in any group.
